Founded in 1869 as a residence for theology students, the Johanneum is now open to all fields of study and students of all religions and backgrounds. Our house thrives on a diverse community in which different ideas, talents and life experiences come together. If you want to be actively involved in our community and appreciate the exchange with others, you have come to the right place!
Our values
Openness and respect: We attach great importance to a respectful community. We firmly reject any form of violence, discrimination or exclusion, be it based on origin, religion, gender or other aspects.
Living and believing together: Our community offers space for spiritual and theological questions. You don't have to study theology, but openness to sharing faith and doubt is important to us.
Internationality: The Johanneum is a place of international encounters. We support foreign students and work closely with the Theological Faculty of the Humboldt University of Berlin to promote exchange.

III. Certificate of Enrollment
If you already have one, please attach a current certificate of enrollment to your application.
IV. Submit your application
Submit your application as a combined PDF file by emailing it to johanneum@yahoo.com send.

For the summer semester: Application until January 20th
Please make sure to receive confirmation of receipt of your application.
Applications without confirmation will not be considered.
Acceptance or rejection will be announced approximately two weeks after the application deadline.

Accessibility: Unfortunately, our house is not barrier-free.
Move-in dates: At the beginning of each semester (01.04. or 01.10.)
Rental period: The rental agreement is valid for one semester and is automatically extended until the fourth semester. After that, you can apply for an extension for two more semesters.
